The hypocrisy of the hard-Left centres around being tricked by lofty arguments made by agenda-driven powerbrokers. These ideas are devoid of substance, so much so that those who follow them often find themselves on the opposing side of the argument they attempt to prosecute. Quite by accident.
The mentality of victimhood states that we are a byproduct of subconscious biases built into a system to ensure those who are oppressed remain so. It is, surprisingly, a partially conservative or libertarian argument for small government. For example, powerbrokers naturally seek to keep power consolidated in their hands. By perpetuating a mentality of servitude, they can better succeed at this goal. When it comes to conservatives and libertarians, this argument is not used to extort the system for personal gain, nor is it employed to destroy the system itself, which has largely done more good than harm. Rather, it is used to ensure safeguards exist to protect those within the system from the key benefactors of the system.
Unfortunately, as I say, the hypocrisy resides in the method. Hard-Left victims, notwithstanding that most are generally well-to-do by comparison with the general population, will almost always become the very oppressors they sought to disrupt as soon as they attain power.
This bid to secure freedom from the shackles of the ever-oppressive system – the one that curiously allowed them to freely grow up in comfort, the one that freely allowed them to go to university and be indoctrinated about the perils of capitalism and protectionism, the one that freely permits dissidence without fear of imprisonment, the one that allows freedom of association, freedom of press, freedom of thought, freedom of speech – well that oppressive system drives the activists onward on their mission, beckoning like the PRIDE-piper’, beseeching them to march through the institutions, and to gnaw on its very foundations until, among the ruins, rises a fairer, more equal society.
We will all have nothing, and will be happy.
If this trend continues, no longer will we watch The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly on the telly. Good and bad are relative concepts, and according to popular media everyone’s beautiful unless they’re conservative. Now we will be viewing the much more sensible 13-minute masterpiece – cut down to exclude all the bigoted, hateful, and X-phobic scenes – named The Woke, the Mad, and the Lefty. For those who prefer reading, be sure to check out the government-approved reading materials. Perhaps, The Amazing SpiderTHEY comic for the upcoming Birthing-Parents Day?! My Virtue Signal is Tingling!
Meanwhile, Disney continues its self-censorship; revising its ‘problematic’ historic films. The company is absent of the moral fortitude required to stand up for its films within the cultural contexts they were created in. New films corrected these perceived errors with diverse characters so as to represent all sub-sections of modern, Western society. Pay no attention to the paradox that it is inherently racist to suggest one can only be represented in films – a place where make-believe characters exist – by those of the same ethnicity as oneself. ‘Hollywood is racist’, chants a chorus of millionaire African-American actors.
But alas, film has fallen victim to Cancel Culture. Meanwhile, comedians are hunted by the Left like would-be witches for daring to use irony or metaphor as magic spells, bewitching audiences with social commentary that highlights the absurdity of certain social conventions. Even African-American comedians. Imagine that! The victim becomes the perpetrator.
The hypocrisy does not end there. Too often the Left lead parallel lives to their virtuous preaching. They reside in lavish abodes, while their kids rent in expensive inner-city properties to satiate a particular lifestyle, living with indulgent excess and glut – the only way they’ve ever known. They sport designer clothes that attempt to make them look poor and pay for $90 haircuts to look like they just woke up – all the while consuming exorbitant amounts of alcohol out on the town with fellow comrades. Because they’ve never really had to work. They complain about the cost of living, while slurping $7 coffees and eating ‘avo on toast’, getting about with rideshare chauffeurs, and attending festivals while smacked out on every high-grade drug they can consume.
But they recycle. So there’s that.
And in the midst of this wearisome opulence, their emptiness calls to them in the quiet of their annual European Summer holiday to Capri or Nice, to ‘give back’ for all the injustices that exist. So they resolve to take a stand with their crepe-paper will, to do what they know how to do best. Nothing.
They stand outside public spaces with $5 placards during business hours to obstruct ‘battlers’ from getting to work, calling to the masses – like shrill sirens – to change what they refuse to. They call for higher immigration, provided of course, those immigrants stay far away in Western Sydney where they can’t scratch the Lamborghini. They call for a rise to the minimum wage, but only because they work part-time (by choice) and won’t do the ‘boring jobs’ that pay more. ‘Climate Action Now!’ they appeal to the working class, who travel an hour to and from work every day, who can’t afford the luxury of electric vehicles and the convenience of ridesharing. They are totally oblivious to the impact they are having on the environment and yet in the next breath they call for more wind turbines and solar panels, so long as they don’t get in the way of their ocean views; go and build them in the regions on arable farmland; people need to stop eating the methane-emitting cows anyway. Bugs are the new beef!
Sacrifice is difficult, but calling on others to do it for you is easier, and they love to make their problems your problems.
This is what hard-Left hypocrisy looks like when it is at home, lounging around and pretending to save the world.
