The recent flooding in Texas was a catastrophe. The US National Weather Service provided warnings and forecasts before the flooding that showed a substantial threat, especially to areas along the Guadalupe River which has flooded catastrophically many times in the past. The Environmental Protection Authority published that flooding in this area has been declining over time. At 8p.m. on 3 July, the National Weather System predicted heavy rain over central Texas and during that evening provided increasingly stronger warnings, including those of flash flooding. This was the evening before the fatal flooding. The children’s camp on the flood plain should have been evacuated well before flooding.

Kerr County, the jurisdiction where the flooding occurred, did not even have a flood-warning system in place and did not mobilise authorities to attempt to move people from the flood plain despite the official warnings and a history of flooding. This is criminal neglect resulting in many deaths. The New York Times declared that, ‘As the world warms, extreme rain is becoming more extreme.’ This is calculated, cynical, misleading and deceptive propaganda. Any journalist worth their salt could have shown from a 30-second search of official US government sites that this flooding was not due to climate change, that the rain events causing flooding were becoming less frequent and that warnings were ignored. If journalists trawl through front bars, a so-called expert can always be found to give the pre-ordained conclusion for reporting. The public is constantly bombarded with either misleading and deceptive information or no information at all.

For example, the Smithsonian Institution reported that retreating ice in Wyoming has revealed more than 30 dead whitebark pine trees and wooden hunting weapons more than 10,000 years old at an altitude of 3,900 metres. This data was ignored as it does not fit the narrative. The data shows that in previous times when humans were not burning fossil fuels, it was warmer than at present. The trees were 180 metres above the current tree line and grew 5,950 to 5,440 years ago. This was in the middle of the Holocene Optimum when times were warmer and wetter and sea level was higher than at present.

Just go for a walk along rock platforms on the Australian coastline. There is a nick at the base of the cliffs above current sea level resulting from waves crashing against the cliffs when sea level was one to two metres higher than at present. Proxy measurements from the Wyoming whitebark pines show that, during growth, the temperature was about half a degree Celsius warmer than at present and the atmospheric carbon dioxide content was 0.03 per cent (compared to the 0.04 per cent today). Such data shows that climate always changes and that there is nothing unusual today despite cacophonous calamitous climate catastrophe claims by the media. It also shows that good news does not sell. There is calculated deception by the media to promote catastrophe events without reference to contrary validated conclusions.

On the energysecurityfreedom.substack.com site, Vijay Jayaraj shows that increased crop yields from greenhouse farming in China, India, USA and Spain are a result of the slight increase in atmospheric carbon dioxide over the last few decades. This is validated by Nasa satellite measurements. The area of greenhouse farms has increased 40 times over the last four decades, water and pesticide use have decreased and food production can now be all year round rather than seasonal. Natural gas, rather than dung, can be used to make fertiliser.

Release of warm carbon dioxide- and water-rich exhaust from the burning of fossil fuel gas produces a greenhouse atmosphere with three times the carbon dioxide content of air resulting in a massive productivity increase. India’s greenhouse horticultural sector is growing by more than six per cent annually. It is no wonder that famines in India are a thing of the past and she can sustain the largest population on the planet. The attempted reduction in carbon dioxide emissions via net zero will reduce food supply, create more famine and kill people. The green movement unashamedly wants to kill populations and their method is to starve, freeze and bankrupt humans in the dark during net zero.

The story of the planet’s climate is full of enigmas. The Earth’s orbit changes from elliptical to circular every 100,000 years, the rotation axis changes every 41,000 years and the Earth wobbles like a top on 20,000-year cycles. This means that the distance from the Sun to the Earth changes producing orbitally driven cyclical climate change due to varying amounts of solar radiation striking the Earth. It is the 100,000-year cycle that is the main orbital driver of climate at present but this was not always the case. At present, the 100,000-year cycle comprises 90,000 years of cold (glaciation) and 10,000 years of warm (interglacial). Our current interglacial started about 14,400 years ago, reached its peak in the Holocene Optimum 8,500 to 3,500 years ago and planet Earth has been cooling for the last 3,500 years with solar-driven spikes of warming (e.g. Minoan, Roman, Medieval and Modern Warmings) and cooling (e.g. Dark Ages, Little Ice Ages). Unless Minister Boof Bowen can change the orbit of the Earth on one of his Cop jaunts, the Earth will continue to cool until the next inevitable glaciation (which I predict will be on a Thursday). However, before a million years ago, the 41,000-year cycle dominated and then flipped to a 100,000-year cycle. We don’t know why.

Ice cores may help to solve this enigma. When snow falls, it entraps air which is preserved in ice as bubbles when snow is compressed to ice. Every time there is a big volcanic eruption, ash particles form a layer on top of snow which, when compressed and covered with more snow, become a thin ash layer in ice. The timing of events can be measured from volcanic ash and crosschecked with historical records, the composition of the past atmosphere can be measured from extracted air bubbles in ice and chemical fingerprints in ice can be used to calculate past air temperatures. Every metre of ice contains about 13,000 years of climate data.

Because ice flows uphill from basins in Greenland and Antarctica due to compression, old basal ice is rarely preserved. Ice cores in Greenland have ice as old as 110,000 years, the Antarctic Vostok core records 420,000 years of climate history and recent drilling by the European Project for Ice Coring in Antarctica has provided a 1.2-million-year history. Maybe it is this history that can solve the enigma of the shift from 41,000- to 100,000-year climate cycles about a million years ago. The science is certainly not settled.

Earth has blossomed with constant climate change for billions of years in the Goldilocks Zone. The real catastrophe is the absence of basic knowledge and loss of critical thinking by the mainstream media who sensationalise every normal weather and climate event.
