Apparently there is a debate about transgender access to women’s bathrooms on ‘The Hill’. Except, there is no ‘debate’. What we have is an instruction that biological men, regardless of how they wish to present themselves, will no longer be permitted into women’s spaces.
It has been a while since someone simply said, ‘no’ to those who ask for additional rights above and beyond the biological rights they were born with. (No one is being banned from using the bathroom.)
Congresswoman for South Carolina, Nancy Mace, has been at the front of this conversation, empowered by the election of Donald Trump and the instruction of the popular vote that enough is enough.
‘The real bullies are those who disregard women’s safety and privacy in favour of prioritising men’s comfort.’
Putting herself on the front line has attracted hateful, bigoted, and misogynistic content from the individuals who like to label themselves as tolerant and kind.
This abuse has come in every stereotype imaginable, from mocking her appearance to threats of violence from biological men who say that preventing them from entering a woman’s bathroom will be the last thing a woman ever does and that transwomen need to start carrying guns, presumably into the bathroom.
It is a sentiment that does not make women feel any better about sharing their bathrooms. (When someone asked where the FBI were on these open threats of violence, one savvy user replied, ‘Chasing squirrels.’)
When Congresswoman Mace stood next to a women’s sign on a bathroom door, one user went so far as to post a photo of a woman standing next to a whites only bathroom door sign.
This led Let Women Speak activist Kellie-Jay Keen to say, ‘They call us Nazis, white supremacists, fascists, anything they can think of to force us to accept them violating our boundaries. It’s not going to work. We #HoldTheLine.’
In a bizarre comment, Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez accused those in favour of restoring biological divides between restrooms of ‘endangering all women and girls’. Her logic?
‘What is your plan on how to enforce this? They won’t come up with an answer. And it inevitably results in our women and girls who are primed for assault because people are gonna want to check their private parts in suspecting who is trans, who is cis, and who is doing what.’
Which is a weird thing to come up with, given society around the world has had no difficulty determining biological sex before this point.
Instead of backing down and apologising to the mob, as has been customary amongst conservatives who dip their toes into the culture wars, Congresswoman Mace has been tweeting almost non-stop, forcing her opponents to out themselves with increasingly hysterical replies, further isolating transgender activism from the mainstream.
One of her most recent posts has them particularly riled up:
‘Some of these lunatic activists are so adamant to keep men’s balls in women’s stalls – they must not have a daughter and it shows.’
Sometimes rough politics is required to push a highly motivated activist movement back from its encroachment on other people’s rights. What Congresswoman Mace preaches is a re-assertion of the supremacy of biological rights. A confirmation that when society and the law said ‘men’ and ‘women’ they meant that literally – in a biological sense.
This rejection of what is seen as one of the tenets of Woke philosophy is part of a wider rejection of transgender laws that have gradually – and then rapidly – undone the legal advancements of the last few hundred years.
This rejection is not restricted to religious citizens who dislike the shift in values. It is far more general. There is a nostalgia for our Age of Innocence where the rules of the world were grounded in reality instead of university-driven philosophy.
This is all happening in the same week that the UK has doubled-down on the trans issue, stating that new British Transport Police Guidance will allow transgender officers to strip-search women provided they hold a Gender Recognition Certificate. A certificate which makes zero difference to their biology or the feelings of terror a woman may feel being strip-searched by a man.
Women’s rights groups are calling this state-sanctioned sexual assault.
The development might be in-line with Equity Law, but that law is being branded as an affront to women’s safety and rights. A similar guidance for the National Police Chiefs Council was withdrawn earlier in the year.
Most people will agree that there is a big difference between the police force allowing transgender officers to wear the uniform of the opposite sex and allowing those officers intimate contact with vulnerable citizens.
This backlash re-enforces what many in positions of authority are too frightened to say out loud … that everyone knows there is a fundamental and unalterable difference between men and women that cannot be erased.
Then we have the rising number of serious injuries suffered by women who are playing contact sports against men.
There is a very strong feeling, even within organisations such as the UN, that this experiment in diversifying women’s sports to be a mixed-sex category has finished. If sporting bodies don’t end it, women and the audience will by walking away. When this happens, it will be another situation that proves that people cannot change their biology, even if the law says that they can.
Following the outrage over transgender competitors at the Paris Olympics, a United Nations report dismissed the oft repeated fallacy that transgender competitors were only winning a handful of titles. Instead, the report suggested that there had been nearly 900 medals won by biological men competing against biological women, equating to roughly 600 women being denied their rightful achievement. This was observed across 400 competitions in 29 sports.
Every single human being has been born of a woman. Every person knows the definition of a man and a woman. Watching elected officials, particularly in the Health Department, feign confusion and take these questions on notice, paints the political class as absurd.
Will the definition of men and women be listed as misinformation and disinformation in a post-civilised Parliament controlled by the eSafety Commission – an entity that lives and breathes the mantra of the Ministry of Truth?
