It is hard to work out Labor’s priorities, by which we mean Labor’s priorities in destroying this nation. On virtually every front it would appear that the once-proud party of the Aussie blue-collar battler is hell-bent on applying a wrecking ball to everything that Australians once held dear.
Our electricity bills are soaring and at the same time hard-working Australians are being warned that thanks to the ‘unexpected’ circumstances surrounding a so-called ‘massive heatwave’ there may well be blackouts across New South Wales. That a few scorchers – i.e. hot and entirely normal early summer days – is enough to strain our energy reserves is worrying enough, but the blasé approach by the hapless Climate Change and Energy Minister Chris Bowen, freshly returned from his pointless and embarrassing trip to Cop 29 in Azerbaijan, should leave Australians hot under the collar even before the air-con is switched off.
It is worth remembering that this continent of ours has some of the greatest reserves of all forms of energy on the planet, yet we are at the point where, thanks to the insane and insidious paganistic and communistic ideology of climate alarmism, we are not only importing energy resources we already have but we are demonising and banning those we are blessed with.
Worse, our infantile, undergraduate student approach to energy stands in stark contrast to America, where under President-elect Donald Trump the climate scam has been labeled as such and a group of grown-ups are setting about dismantling the ludicrous Biden climate agenda, beginning by pulling the US out of the dreadful Paris Agreement. This is, of course, something this magazine (and this magazine alone) has been urging Australia to do for the past decade.
Let sober Australians be crystal clear on where this leaves us. Australia is at a crossroads, and which path we take will be determined at the next federal election, possibly the most important of our lives. We either embrace the full economic potential of this continent of ours or we condemn ourselves to decades of declining living standards, increased poverty and unemployment and a collapse in our international standing. As this magazine’s much-loved columnist Professor David Flint has frequently pointed out, we are hurtling under Labor/Green/Teals policies towards Venezuelan or (former) Argentinian status: namely, that of a once naturally wealthy nation reduced to socialist impoverishment.
Already, over 80 per cent of new mine approvals never get off the ground, but remain enmeshed in a twilight world of red (socialist), green (environmental) and black (indigenous cultural) tape, never to see the light of day or to turn a sod, let alone a profit.
As a perfect metaphor, it was revealed this week that an Australian wind turbine manufacturer has gone bust. Add that to the list of failed ‘green hydrogen’ and other fanciful ‘Future Made in Australia’ pipe dreams, throw in the gold and uranium mines that have been banned because of this or that Aboriginal Dreamtime mythological beast, and you start to get a sense of the peril this nation faces.
Labor boasts of creating more jobs, forgetting to mention that the majority of them are non-productive ones in Canberra and add not a whit to our nation’s bank balance. We are syphoning off our children’s and grandchildren’s future to fritter away on the fads of today. History will not forgive us if we allow this thievery to continue. But not content with merely destroying the wealth of this country, the Albanese government is deliberately ripping asunder the social fabric of modern Australia. For the first time in our lives genuine racism has reared its ugly head on our streets. No, not the faux racism so beloved off the left – where a jokey nickname or an off-colour joke brings the heavens crashing down – what we are seeing now is the terrifying racism of truly pernicious and deadly Jew hatred. This is the absolute definition of real racism and thanks to the cowardice of Anthony Albanese and the prejudices of Penny Wong it has been allowed to rampage across our cities unchecked. Not for nothing was former prime minister John Howard compelled the other day to express his horror at the lack of moral leadership from this government following the vile antisemitic vandalism in Sydney’s Woollahra.
Donald Trump is taking America towards a bright golden dawn of prosperity free of the sinister socialist ideology of wokeness. Americans made their unequivocal choice. Now Australians must decide if we wish to do the same.
