Sectarian politics? UK elections raise concerns about the failure of multiculturalism

Nigel Farage has raised concerns about significant local Muslim and Marxist electoral wins in the United Kingdom.

After hearing newly elected representatives shouting ‘Free Palestine!’ ‘Allahu Akbar!’ and threatening ‘to come after anyone who stands with Zionism’, Farage said, ‘This is the diversity agenda.’

‘There were about 40 council seats won by people standing on a Gaza agenda. Some stood for the Green Party, some stood for George Galloway, some stood as Independents.’

‘This,’ Farage added, ‘all took place in areas that are Muslim majority wards. If that’s not a sectarian vote, I don’t know what is.’

Criticising multiculturalism and the recklessness of mass immigration, Farage said:

‘What you can see, if people come in very, very large numbers they bring their culture with them. What we’re witnessing with this growth of sectarian politics is an attempt to take over councils. It’s an attempt to win seats in the British Parliament.’

Concerned, he quoted The Muslim Vote’s list of 18 demands issued to Labour leader, Sir Keir Starmer. Here is the list…

  1. Apologise for your comments greenlighting a genocide and for not backing the ceasefire in Oct/Nov 2023.
  2. Sanctions on companies operating in occupied territories. Sanctions on settlers.
  3. Recognise Palestine state.
  4. Travel ban on all Israeli politicians that prosecuted this war and support illegal occupation.
  5. End military ties with Israel.
  6. Issue guidance that Muslims are allowed to pray at school.
  7. Implement findings of people’s review of prevent – not Shawcross.
  8. Remove ‘extremism’ definition [Michael] Gove introduced.
  9. Commit to full implementation of Royal charter re media regulation.
  10. Adopt APPG definition of Islamophobia.
  11. Commit to review of public sector equality duty.
  12. Increase council and public health funding for the 10 per cent most deprived areas in the country to finally address systemic and chronic health inequities as detailed in the Marmot Review and revisited by the Health Foundation 10 year later.
  13. Deliver alternative student finance.
  14. Ensure sharia compliant pensions are available at every workplace. So the 1/3 of Muslims without a pension get one.
  15. Ensure insurance quotes don’t cost more for someone called ‘Muhammad’.
  16. Commit 7 per cent of the LGPS/ public sector pensions to ethical and Islamic funds.
  17. Oppose BDS bill. Kick it out of law.
  18. Remove the archaic ‘spiritual influence’ ‘offence from statute’.

Farage said, ‘If Keir Starmer gave in to those 18 demands, they’d come back with 18 more.’

Of additional concern is how this voting group interacts politically with socialist George Galloway.

The leader of Workers Party of Britain was expelled from the socialist-leaning Labour Party in 2003.

Self-styled as an opponent of the ‘Uniparty’, the AP described Galloway as ‘a political left-wing disrupter’.

His electoral win is being attributed to ‘stop the genocide’ messaging, given the ideological split of his local electorate.

In reality, Galloway’s win could also be a Muslim protest vote against Labour.

Labour are perceived as not coming out strongly enough against Israel over its response to the Hamas terror incident on October 7, 2023.

Galloway’s party wants the UK out of Nato, to redistribute wealth, and centralise healthcare.

The party also wants Israel to become one Palestinian state.

All this adds to Farage’s fresh warnings about sectarian political voting blocs.

Back in the United Kingdom after a stint in the United States, Farage stated on Twitter:

‘I’ve predicted sectarian politics in the UK for some time now. Well, here it is for all the see.’

Notably, the Brexiteer boss’s latest comments on sectarian politics comes almost one month after mayor, Emir Kir, shut down a conservative conference in Brussels.

If this is news to you, that’s because it was under-reported.

Among the speakers featured were legends like Nigel Farage, Suella Braverman, Hungarian PM Viktor Orban, Rod Dreher, and Melanie Phillips.

Police were ordered to shut down the National Conservatism Conference (NatCon), on April 17.

Under the guise of ‘public security’, entry was blocked to the venue and the conference was accused of creating a ‘public disturbance’.

This was after the conference had already been running for three hours without any disturbances or interruptions.

‘The far-right is not welcome,’ Kir wrote on Twitter.

Thanks to Rod Dreher, you can read Kir’s original order in English here.

Dreher also claimed that Antifa were behind the shutdown.

‘Antifa found the names of suppliers to the conference – caterers and others – and threatened to ruin them professionally.’

Kir’s order denying freedom of assembly and speech, was eventually overruled, deemed unconstitutional, and the conference was allowed to continue.

He said he had no sympathy for ‘hate preachers’ and was remaining ‘vigilant as to how things unfold’.

British MP, Suella Braverman, responded to the overreach stating:

‘It’s laughable that the Brussels thought police were sent out to shut down a conference of democratically elected politicians representing the views of millions of people. They clearly didn’t want to hear about how we can secure our borders and protect our citizens.’

Braverman, writing for The Criticslammed this as ‘rights radicalism’ stating:

‘If only the globalists in Brussels put as much energy into securing our borders, as they did trying to gag conservatives then perhaps our continent would be in a healthier state.’

Farage and Braverman are right, in my view, to say that sectarian voting blocs are proof multiculturalism has failed.

Multiculturalism is disrupting multiethnic social cohesion in the West.

Hence the obsession with Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.

DEI is life support for an inevitably unworkable multicultural utopianism.

Forcing Western countries to import and then adopt these cultures is re-creating the very thing refugees are fleeing from.

Ironically, the multicultural destruction of the West ends in the desecration of the last refuge for life, light, and liberty.

Once gone, there’s no place of sanctuary left for the poor, the widow, and the orphan.
